Welcoming the Newest Members of the FAMH Lab: Introducing Ayomide Popoola and Nemya McGill-Veloso
August 16, 2024
Please help us welcome Ayomide Popoola and Nemya McGill-Veloso to the FAMH lab! Ayomide, or Ayo, is a first-year doctoral student in clinical psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she researches culturally adapted mental health interventions for pregnant Black women. She aims to become a tenured faculty member and researcher, advancing mental health practices within the Black community. Nemya McGill-Veloso is a post-baccalaureate research assistant through VCU’s PREP Program. Nemya graduated from VCU in May 2024 and is currently applying to this year's cycle of PhD applications. Her research interests reside in Black adolescent mental health, where she specifically wants to investigate how exposure to counseling during teenage years influences new adulthood development outcomes. She is excited to work with the FAMH Lab and explore her interests in Black mental health of youth and families. We look forward to seeing their growth and success!
