Marlasia Hill is a current post-baccalaureate research assistant in the FAMH Lab. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently a Research Assistant in Dr. Heather Jones’ lab. Her research interests include Black mental health, suicide prevention, resilience, and the role of community support systems in shaping psychological well-being. Specifically, she is interested in how family, peer, cultural, and community-based networks may function as protective factors against suicidal thoughts and behaviors among Black individuals. She is particularly interested in understanding how these systems can be leveraged to strengthen prevention efforts and improve mental health outcomes in underserved populations. She wants to continue to pursue doctoral training in clinical psychology and develop research focused on prevention and intervention strategies for underserved communities.
